Entertainment

Pigpen’s Pig Pen:

Step inside the G.T. Livery Stable in Ghost Town to meet Pigpen. While you’re here, you can also see some pigs, and usually a donkey and at least one horse. While you are exploring Ghost Town, be on the lookout for the kite eating trees. There are two in Ghost Town and more over in Camp Snoopy.

Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree:

Calico Park is the place to be if you want to play some games with Linus and Franklin. The schedule of games if posted at the jamboree, located next to the Calico Saloon. During our visit, we played Prickly Cactus Bowling in the morning and returned later in the day for a second game. The Vanishing Prairie is a clever name for musical chairs that is played with short stools. Before and after the games is when you can meet and take pictures with Linus and Franklin. At select times, Calico Park is also where you can meet Spike.

Space Beagle & Beagle Bonanza:

Camp Snoopy is where you will find the Peanuts Gang year-round. During the Peanuts Celebration, Camp Snoopy is the place to be for some extra entertainment and photo opportunities. In Space Beagle, blast off with Charlie Brown, Lucy, and Snoopy as the world’s most-famous beagle becomes the first dog on the moon. This show takes place at the Camp Snoopy Theater several times a day during the Peanuts Celebration. The Camp Snoopy Characters Meet & Greet is another place to take pictures you’re your favorite Peanuts Gang. Climb aboard the Grand Sierra Railroad to see the Beagle Bonanza. New for 2020 is a Child to Teacher Translator machine, which will take your words and broadcast them in the “mwah-mwah-mwah-mwah-mwah” dialect of the Peanuts Gang’s teacher.

Sketch School:

Want to try your hand at sketching a Peanuts character? Then head over to the Bird Cage Theatre in Ghost Town, grab a pencil, and let the Knott’s resident art teacher show you how to draw a Peanuts character. With seven classes a day during the Peanuts Celebration, there are many chances to sketch. The list of characters is not publicly posted; however, I noticed a daily schedule inside the theatre. The sequence is Charlie Brown, Sally, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Peppermint Patty, and Pig Pen. We went to the 4:30 sketch school and learned to draw Charlie Brown’s pal, Peppermint Patty.

Woodstock’s Music Festival:

This night-time show is a must-see during the Peanuts Celebration. The Peanuts Gang joins a local southern California band, “The Jelly of the Month Club”, for a high-energy rock concert. This nearly 45-minute show takes place at the Calico Mine Stage two times each night during the Peanuts Celebration. Seats go quickly for this show, so consider showing up at least 30 minutes in advance. It was standing room only when we saw the 5:30 PM show. We were impressed with both the music and how the songs incorporated the Peanuts gang and Snoopy as a rock star.

Spike’s Discoteca de Silencio:

Located at the Fiesta Plaza Stage from 5:00 PM until closing, you can dance the night away at a silent disco as only Snoopy’s brother, Spike, can throw. What is a silent disco? We wondered this too, so we made sure to stop by Fiesta Village after Woodstock’s Music Festival. There’s a dance floor and lights, even a disco ball, like you would find at a dance club. The DJ cues the tunes; however, you do not hear any music! Everyone on the dance floor wears headphones that Knott’s provides and there is more than one style of music to choose from.

Charlie Brown Day

On one special day during Knott’s Peanuts Celebration, there is a Charlie Brown Day. This year it was on February 2, 2020. Guests are encouraged to dress up like Charlie Brown in classic gold shirts with a black zigzag stripe. A photo shared on the Knott’s Berry Farm Facebook page captured this year’s group. We missed Charlie Brown Day this year and will hope to make it next time!

Knott’s BEARY Farm – Build-A-Bear now open at Knott’s Marketplace

At the end of January 2020, a new Build-A-Bear location joined the Knott’s Marketplace. This new shop is behind the Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant and Virginia’s Gift Shop. We stopped in to check it out at the end of our recent visit. In the upcoming weeks and months, this location will feature more customized Knott’s items.

Some Tips

  • Be sure to pick up a Knott’s Peanuts Celebration Event Guide at the front gate. This will show the locations of the seasonal food offerings and entertainment.
  • Check out the limited time Peanuts Celebration t-shirt available in youth and adult sizes. Find them at the Event Booth near the Main Gate, Snoopy’s Camp Store, Casa California, Cordy’s Corner, and Peanuts Headquarters.
  • If you miss the Peanuts Celebration this time, be sure to check it out when it returns next year!
  • Another great seasonal event is the Knott’s Boysenberry Festival – returning to Knott’s from March 20 to April 19, 2020.
