Disneyland Resort 24 Hour Party Photo Ideas

Are you making plans to attend the 24 hour party at the Disneyland Resort on May 22, 2015? This event is not for the faint of heart. Both Disneyland (DL) and Disney California Adventure (DCA) will be open for 24 hours and it is the official launch of the key entertainment for the 60th Diamond Celebration…a new “Paint the Night” night parade, a new “Disneyland Forever” fireworks show, and an all-new “World of Color – Celebrate!” show.

Last year my husband and I attended our second 24 hour party at Disneyland. When we went in 2013, we didn’t make it the full 24 hours, nor did we take too many photos. So when we went in 2014 we decided to book a hotel room so we could try to make it the full 24 hours. In addition, we decided to take at least one photo every hour we were at the 24 hour party. Bright and early on Friday morning, we drove to Anaheim from San Diego and checked-in early to our hotel – then we hit the parks!

The park had opened at 6:00 a.m. and we entered at around 6:30 a.m. Straight away we started taking our hourly photos, trying to take advantage of as many of the special “photo ops” that were set up in the parks as we could. First, we started our day briefly at DCA and then went to DL. After a short siesta in our hotel room, we finished the day/night with a 3:00 a.m. World of Color Show. When all was said and done, we were in the parks for 20 of the 24 hours. We had fun trying to come up with ideas for our hourly pictures.

Here are some ideas for pictures to take during your trip to the Disneyland Resort 24 Hour Party:

  1. Wear matching shirts and/or hats/ears or Disneybound as your favorite character, ride, movie, etc.
  2. Include pictures with clocks in your photos – Main Street Railroad Station Clock, Main Street Clock, Fantasyland Clock Tower, and the It’s A Small World Clock are a few spots to capture.
  3. Look for special 24 hour photo ops – some of these will have Disney PhotoPass Photographers or cast members who will help you out.
  4. Character Photos – often times the characters are in special outfits for the 24 hour party (i.e. Donald Duck in his pajamas). These are special photo opportunities that are rarely available.
  5. Capture photos of the special signage, treats, and events that will be going on throughout the 24 hours.
  6. Try a combination of selfies and candids of you taken by others. It’s nice to have a variety of pictures from this fun day. Be sure YOU are in at least one photo per hour. It’s interesting to look back later to see how “tired” we all become as the day progresses.

Now it’s time to capture some great pictures… Let the Photo Frenzy begin!

  1. I love these!! This will be my first 24 Hour event and I definitely want to make the most of it! I designed special matching shirts for the Diamond Celebration that say “Diamond in the Rough”. Say hello if you see us!!

  2. Yes, I will look for you and your custom t-shirts! What color are they? We’ll be wearing black t-shirts that say “Premium 365” on the front (from the Mouse4Life DL fan shop).

    • My pleasure and I hope you enjoy getting your creative juices going with this fun way of showing and sharing your photos.
