As the sun begins to go down on a fun day at the Happiest Place on Earth, a group of foolish mortals gather for a special Halloween tour. Each autumn for the past few years, a unique opportunity has been available for those who wish to experience an eerie evening of harmless pranks and attractions throughout the different lands of Disneyland as official members of Ghost Relations.

My husband, Lloyd, and I just celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary at Disneyland which coincidently is where we met and got married. This trip to Disneyland also included something special, one of the park’s tours, Happiest Haunts. The park was very crowded for a Saturday in the middle of October and the weather was warm and east coast muggy. None of this though could take away from this fun and engaging tour.

Our tour started with a check in at the tour gardens and followed by setting us up with an audio system. The audio headset enabled us to hear our tour guide, Phillip, and Disney themed Halloween music throughout the evening. We had about 18 other people on the tour with us. Phillip had a warm and friendly personality. We made a short trip to the Main Street Cinema where we were introduced to an addition to the group, Master Gracey. The cast member portrayed Master Gracey perfectly – never breaking from his role as Ghost Host. Master Gracey pushed the tour over the top.

We made our way around the park and visited a total of five attractions with front-of-the-line privileges. As we visited attractions we would stop and tour guide Phillip would give us history and inside knowledge about the area we were in. Master Gracey would follow up with an engaging ghost story related to the area.

The tour included some Trick-or-Treating which were very tasty treats from the park’s very own candy makers and bakery. The first was marshmallows dipped in caramel and rolled in orange sugar with chocolate pumpkin faces. The second was Mickey shaped sugar cookies.

Our final designation was appropriately the Haunted Mansion. Master Gracey greeted us as we embarked upon the ride in our Doom Buggy. The tour ended just outside the Haunted Mansion with collectible souvenir gifts and photo opportunities with Master Gracey.

The Happiest Haunts tour is only available during the Halloween season and requires a ticket to the park in addition to the cost of the tour. You can book tours up to 30 days in advance and are first-come, first-served. Same day tickets are available space permitting. Check the official website for details on prices and available Annual Passholder discounts. The Happiest Haunts tour is approximately three-hours and is designed for tweens, teens, and adults.

If you are a Disney fan and looking for something unique to add to your Disney experiences, this Happiest Haunts tour should be on your short list, but don’t delay or you will have to wait until next year. Look alive!
